A Guide To The Best Retirement Account For You

When planning for your retirement, financial considerations are one of the most important things to think about. A retirement account provides a great way for you to save up money for your retirement, but as there are a number of them on offer knowing which is best for you is not always easy.

Known as IRAs (Individual Retirement Accounts), some of them are organized entirely by you, and some of them are organized by your employer. So take a look at the retirement accounts below to see descriptions of each.

Traditional IRA – there is no tax impact on any transactions that you make with this account. However, any contributions that you make are tax deductible. With this account you can put away money each year, and if this is your only one then the bonus is that you don’t have to pay income taxes.

Roth IRA – this is considered by many to be the best IRA available. All withdrawals are tax free, but there is no tax break when you deposit money. The restrictions include limits on how much you can contribute each year, and the account also has to be 5 years old before taking out money.

401(k) – this is an employer account, and will be organized through the company that you work for. It is a good option if you are starting to save late as you can choose to contribute more into it without restrictions, and it can also provide you with better rates.

SEP IRA (Simplified Employment Pension) – this is good for a small, one-person business, and you can deposit up to 25% of your income.

Simple IRA – this is when your employer matches some of your contributions. It is generally used if you work for a smaller company, and you can’t take out money when you want to.
